By Dave Haygarth   April 26, 2007
Writing keywords into websites is essential if you nee search engine traffic. We've uncovered a great couple of articles about how to do it without numbing the brains of your readers. In a brilliant article on the Wordtracker website, "Stop the Slaughter of Innocent Copy " gives some great examples for more advanced copy writers.Aaron Wall gives a good guide on keeping things sounding natural on his SEOBook website, including some good links to further resources, and tips on using related phrases to avoid repetition.

Google first… and second in rankings!

By Dave Haygarth   April 22, 2007
We spend a lot of time here at RD looking at issues to do with search marketing. If anyone wants to know why we talk so much about why Google matters compared to other search engines like Ask, MSN and Yahoo!, we just kindly remind people to look at the statitics of who is clicking where. In the latest figures from Hitwise, Google searches on the google.co.uk domain lead the field with two thirds of all searches, but signinicantly, google.com is in second place. The total Google market share was almost 79% in March. This is where our clients need to be focusing their SEM efforts, for now !

Google unveil “Pay Per Action”

By Dave Haygarth   April 13, 2007
Google is one step ahead in on-line advertising, it seems. After the Pay Per Click success over recent years, Google is now introducing a pay for performance model called Pay Per Action. You decide what to pay based on what action you want your site visitors to perform. That might be filling in a form, visiting a particular page or even buying a specific product. Email Marketing: More than twice as effective as printing.

By Dave Haygarth   April 10, 2007
The Direct Marketing Association's 2006 report "The Power of Direct Marketing" has just been brought to our attention again. It's a timely reminder that, amongst other things, research in the US showed that every $1 spent on email marketing has a return on investment of $57.25. This compares to non-email direct marketing (usually printed materials) returning $22.52.Link: Direct Marketing Asociation's 2006 report The Power of Diret Marketing

RD Environmental Audit

By Dave Haygarth   March 1, 2007
We're in the early stages of having an environmental audit carried out. Ever since Reverse Delta started up, we've wanted to be a responsible company and minimise our environmental impact. It's easy to talk the talk, to buy into carbon offset schemes, etc., but without this audit, we won't know where we are now, and how we might be able to improve things. We already pride ourselves on not buying into dedicated office space and encouraging home working, but watch this space to find out how the audit goes and how we're planning on making Reverse Delta a green beacon !

The Google Gap

By Dave Haygarth   February 27, 2007
When trying to get the best results in search engine rankings, it's important to remember just where people are currently searching. The Search Marketing Blog draws on some information in this article to say that Google accounts for 80% of all searches performed in the UK. They may not continue to keep that market share, though. Windows Vista's rollout this month means that a great deal of default searches from new PCs will be at live.com - Windows'  own search site.
